Serenity Prayer

God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.
Living one day at a time; enjoying one moment at a time;
Accepting hardship as the pathway to peace.
Taking, as Jesus did, this sinful world as it is,not as I would have it.
Trusting that He will make all things right if I surrender to His Will; That I may be reasonably happy
in this life, and supremely
happy with Him forever in the next.

Amen

Angel Food Ministries
14 Congress Parkway South, Athens, TN, 37303
Angel Food Ministry
Angel Food Orders are taken at the Church Office Monday- Friday 9:00-1:00

About Angel Food
Angel Food Ministries is a non-profit, non-denominational organization dedicated to providing grocery relief and financial support to communities throughout the United States. The program began in 1994 with 34 families in Monroe, Georgia (between Atlanta and Athens), and has grown to serve thousands of families every month across 17 states. Angel Food Ministries crosses denominational lines and has spread the good news of the gospel of Christ through salvation tracts that are placed in each food order.
Blessings by the Box
Angel Food's groceries are sold in a quantity that can fit into a medium-sized box at $28 per unit. Each month's menu is different than the previous month and consists of both fresh and frozen items with an average retail value of approximately $50. Comparison shopping has been done across the country in various communities using a wide range of retail grocery stores and has resulted in the same food items costing from between $42 and $78.
How the Program works
Food sales and distribution are handled by church host sites. Orders and payments are collected by the host sites during the first part of each month. These orders are then turned in to the Angel Food main office in Monroe, Georgia, on a predetermined date. Several days later, in the same month, the host site either picks up the food from Angel Food's 160,000 square feet warehouse to fill the orders on Distribution Day or, because this ministry is growing nationwide, food is delivered to the host site by a pre-arranged delivery mode. In most cases, as long as there is a truck headed in the direction of a community who wants this program and sees its ministry influence, there are no extra transportation costs.

Tennessee Head Start
Head Start and Pre-K for Bradley County and Cleveland City Schools
Head Start offers a comprehensive, early childhood education experience to families in the four counties of Southeast Tennessee. These counties include: Bradley, Polk, McMinn and Meigs.

Head Start is a jump ahead – a beginning to school and to life outside a child’s home environment!
It began, nationally, as a part of the federal government’s plan to fight poverty. The fundamental belief was that disadvantaged children and their families can overcome adversity by participating in an early childhood program.

The program focuses on the intellectual, physical, nutritional, disabilities and socialization needs of the child. It also strives to provide assistance to the entire family by encouraging family involvement in all areas of Head Start. This parental component of the program is seen as the long term key to success.

Head Start seeks to give children a variety of experiences in a setting that is developmentally appropriate for their age and readiness levels, while at the same time offering parents the skills to become better providers and role models.

Since 2005 both Bradley County and Cleveland City Schools have partnered with Head Start to operate their state funded Pre-K classes. These classes are run according to Head Start Performance Standards, and they include children from both programs.

Also, Head Start is in collaboration with McMinn County Schools and operates Pre-K/Head Start classes at Calhoun and Mt. View. There are also many additional exciting partnerships between Head Start and State Pre-K around that county and others.

Mutual self-help groups are not therapy groups and people attending are not required to discuss their problems if they do not wish to do so. Suicide Crisis Hotline
N/A, Athens, Tennessee, 37303
Even if you know you may be upset or suicidal again soon, just give it a try.
Even though non-depressive humans won't really know exactly how you feel --
Let them try to help the best they can.
Talk to them, let them listen.
Most of them are not even getting paid.
The only reason they are there is for you.
They may not always say the exact right thing, but they are hoping that somehow they can help you make it through a difficult night, to live & fight another day.

It doesn't have to be a
one time only call.
Although it is often the last resort for many, you don't have to be embarrassed to call & it doesn't have to be a big dramatic event
If you know you are in trouble or if you really don't know what is wrong -- whether you think it will help you or not, just call anyway.

You may not know how it helped until after you are well, your depression is treated and you look back and see that it really did make a difference.

It probably won't be just one thing that gets you through this terrible time in your life - It will be lots of little things that really don't seem like help at all.

The one time I called a suicide hotline was after I took something to kill myself. I don't know why I even called. It was my second attempt & I was determined to kill myself. But my doctor had given me the number so I called it. I wasn't even upset - I just told the gal that I had taken something to kill myself. She said I should go in and wake my Dad and tell him.

Poem
For a few moments, let someone help carry your pain

Someone who is there because they care enough to help a stranger in need

Because they know, or they have seen,
From someone they know, or somewhere they've been
That your life may be in danger and there's nothing they can say,
To really make that pain go away.
But they are there for you even so,
Because somehow they know,
That somehow, some way,
They can help you find the strength
to live another day...
Please Call even if it's Small..
